Pop-Up, special “one-off” evening: The web videos that shaped our lives

For four years, the Pop-Up section has highlighted the vitality of short-form, web-style formats, attracting large and enthusiastic audiences. For its 5th edition, the format is changing!

While cinema films are often placed on a pedestal, videos seen online are sometimes looked down upon. Yet the web is full of creations, slices of life, and oddities that continually feed our imaginations. Joined by David Honnorat from the YouTube channel Calmos, three creators will share some of their favorite videos during an evening rich in emotions and discoveries.

Our host

David HONNORAT
Author, podcaster, and (a bit of a) designer, David Honnorat has been active on the web for many years. A co-founder of the cinephile social network Vodkaster in the late 2000s, he went on to collaborate with numerous media outlets before creating calmos.net, which has since become a YouTube channel and a podcast. He also created the Movieland map, an imaginary world whose geography charts his vision of film history through more than 1,800 films.

Our guests

François DESCRAQUES
François Descraques is a director, screenwriter, and actor. He rose to prominence in 2009 with the cult web series Le Visiteur du futur, which became emblematic of French web creation. He has played a key role in the development of online series and short-form formats, creating works that blend humor, dynamic storytelling, and fantastical worlds. In 2022, he adapted Le Visiteur du futur into a feature film, confirming his successful transition from the web to cinema.

Anis RHALI

Anis Rhali is a director, screenwriter, and actor. After training as an actor and performing in several stage productions, Anis was propelled into the world of online fiction after achieving considerable success with his short humorous videos. The originality of his ideas quickly attracted attention, and he was invited to contribute to the YouTube channel Golden Moustache. Anis began writing and directing small sketches, soon moving on to longer short films, including Un monde sans rap, which was selected for the Pop-Up section at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival in 2022.

He then continued with radio projects, his own concepts on his YouTube channel, and is currently developing a short series for ARTE as well as his first feature film for cinema. Anis was also a member of the Pop-Up jury in 2024.

Marie TREIBERT
Marie Treibert is a science communicator, author, naturalist, and video creator. She crafts stories that make science accessible and engaging, notably on the YouTube channel La boîte à curiosités. Through field observation, storytelling, and imagery, she highlights species, ecosystems, and conservation issues with an approach that is rigorous, humorous, sensitive, and committed.
